A Realistic Unreal Engine Video Chris Pratt In The Role Of Super Mario

Fans have been imagining what Mario might look like if he were played by Chris Pratt, and due to Unreal Engine, they can finally see for themselves.

The voice cast for the unnamed Super Mario Bros. movie was unveiled during a Nintendo Direct live webcast in September 2021, with Chris Pratt leading the way as Mario's voice. While fans have been imagining what Mario might sound like with Chris Pratt's voice, they can now see what a live-action Mario would look like if represented by the actor.

The Super Mario Bros. film was delayed from its original release date of late 2022, allowing fans even more time to create their own interpretation of Pratt's Mario. With remarkably comparable results, content maker Re-Imagined Games took on the goal of producing a realistic Super Mario Bros. with the main character resembling Chris Pratt.

Chris Pratt is brought to life as Mario uses the Unreal Engine, leaping over Koopa Troopa shells, destroying blocks, and even hurling fireballs. The original Nintendo Entertainment System game's legendary first four levels are included, complete with functional pipes and power-ups.

The Re-Imagined Games version isn't entirely 2D, with players able to run around some items, giving the game a bit more realism. For the time being, Pratt's Mario is the sole primary character in the game, although ideas for the others are in the works. According to Re-Imagined Games, the next aim is to cast actor Jack Black as Bowser. The other key characters, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad, will appear soon.

When the voice cast was released in 2021, there was a lot of fan backlash, with comments from streamers and content makers reaching millions of views. Outside of moving back the planned release date, Nintendo has stayed relatively silent regarding the Super Mario Bros. movie since unveiling the voice cast. Even the official Twitter account, which was established in January 2021, has yet to produce a single tweet. Thankfully, the Super Mario Bros. teaser trailer will premiere on October 6 at 4 p.m. ET, giving fans their first glimpse at the film. The Super Mario Bros. film hits theaters in the United States on April 7, 2022, and in Japan on April 28, 2023.
