Updated: May 5, 2022
Following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Benedict Cumberbatch promises Doctor Strange's intriguing future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, according to Benedict Cumberbatch, sets up an intriguing MCU future for his eponymous wizard. Marvel will return to the big screen in less than a week with the Sam Raimi-directed film. And, like with most Marvel Studios May releases, the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are intended to have far-reaching implications for the MCU in the future. Although this is Cumberbatch's second solo feature in the franchise, it is his sixth total cinematic appearance.
Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) returns in Doctor Strange 2 as well as the debut of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). Despite the various moving parts, the MCU sorcerer remains the central figure. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange's choice to assist Peter Parker (Tom Holland) has major ramifications for the multiverse's state. Strange's activities, despite his good intentions, lead him into conflict with the MCU's version of the Illuminati. It's unclear how everything will be settled at the end of Multiverse of Madness, but Cumberbatch vows that it will pave the way for an exciting Doctor Strange future.
In a recent interview with Extra, Cumberbatch says he's looking forward to seeing how fans react to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This is especially true given the film's events, which foreshadow a bright future for Doctor Strange. Read the whole of his response below:
“I really can’t wait to see what the fan reaction is to this [Multiverse of Madness] and where it takes Strange…but I think it sets him up for a really exciting future.”
Cumberbatch, understandably, is unable to discuss the plot of Multiverse of Madness in detail. The actor has mastered the art of marketing an MCU picture without accidently exposing any secrets since his debut in 2016's original Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange's comeback after his second film, on the other hand, isn't shocking. To begin with, being a key figure in Marvel Studios' multiverse story, it seems natural that he will remain a central figure in that storyline. Second, despite Benedict Cumberbatch's claim that Doctor Strange isn't a member of the MCU's premier team, Strange is still due for a threequel. Finally, despite Cumberbatch's claim that Strange isn't a member of the MCU's premier team, he is expected to be one of the prominent Avengers members moving forward.
In terms of how Doctor Strange's future is set up in the Multiverse of Madness, At this moment, it's tough to say. Aside from Marvel Studios' extraordinary caution in revealing information, the events of the Raimi-directed picture have the potential to radically alter the MCU as a whole. With so many Doctor Strange varieties in Multiverse of Madness, Marvel Studios may get inventive in figuring out what the sorcerer will do next. They may be bold about where his personal journey goes him since there's no urgency to finish up his tale.
