BTS Video For Doctor Strange 2 Reveals A New Look At Charlize Theron's Clea

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, actress Charlize Theron gives us a new behind-the-scenes look at her MCU debut character Clea.

Clea's appearance has been rumored since the announcement of Doctor Strange 2, since comic fans are aware of her importance in his comic background. Only one other live-action appearance of the character occurred in the 1978 Doctor Strange film, performed by actress Eddie Benton. Clea has only appeared in a few video games and an episode of the X-Men animated series outside of the comic book pages.

Clea's outfit and costume for her brief debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can be seen up close in a Twitter picture by Theron, offering fans a clearer look at her complex costume and make-up. Since the film's release in cinemas, Theron has been posting nuggets about her new role on social media under the hashtag "Sneaky peaky BTS." Look at Theron's comment below:

Doctor Strange 2 has a few "casting-announcement" cameos, most notably Clea and John Krasinski's Reed Richards, which is an unusual way for Marvel Studios. Strange and Clea travel into another universe together at the end of Doctor Strange 2, which is likely a set-up for whatever adventures Doctor Strange may have in future films or crossovers. Cumberbatch has stated that he intends to stay with the character for a long time since he enjoys it and expects to have many more adventures as Doctor Strange in the future.

These in-movie casting announcements are a nice change from a regular press release, since they give the appearance more weight and provide greater surprise for the viewer, as long as it isn't disclosed beforehand. While it can be tough to preserve secrets, Marvel has become better and better at concealing secrets over the years, even if fans on social media always seem to find a way to leak information. Of course, once a film has been released in theaters and has had a weekend to be seen by audiences, the casting cat is out of the bag, and it's fair game for the world to discuss, which Theron has taken to heart as she continues to show her pride in landing one of Doctor Strange's best appearances in the Multiverse of Madness.
