Continuing The Recent Pre-Mature Marvel Announcement With Rosario Dawson Announcing Punisher Return
Rosario Dawson, a star of Marvel's Netflix series, seems to make an official announcement about the return of Jon Bernthal's Punisher to the MCU.
Naturally, Dawson was a staple of the Marvel Netflix program. In the first season of Marvel's Daredevil, which debuted on Netflix in 2015 and was theoretically a part of the MCU, she made her acting debut as Claire Temple. Dawson reprised her role in the following seasons of Marvel's Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the crossover limited series Marvel's The Defenders. In the second season of Luke Cage in 2018, she made her final appearance as Claire.
The second season of Daredevil, which debuted on Netflix in 2016, also saw Jon Bernthal enter the conflict as Frank Castle/the Punisher. Following Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson, Bernthal was the fourth actor to portray the infamous Marvel Comics vigilante in a live-action film.
Bernthal returned to his role as Frank in the spinoff series Marvel's The Punisher, which debuted in 2017 after his tenure on Daredevil came to an end. In 2019, the program returned for its second and last season. Although it now appears she could get her opportunity, after all, Dawson noted that The Punisher was the first Marvel Netflix series in which she did not play Claire Temple.
The return of the Punisher to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has apparently been confirmed by Rosario Dawson, with Jon Bernthal probably resuming the role. During a discussion at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, Dawson stated, "I haven't heard that announcement, but I learned out yesterday that The Punisher was coming again. "I thus feel like it's my second opportunity since I missed out on it the most out of all the programs, and I like Jon Bernthal. So, gentlemen, let's all work together to make it happen "She kept her fingers crossed.
Early in 2022, Disney+, the new de facto streaming hub for all things Marvel, acquired Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher from Netflix. The aforementioned Cox and D'Donofrio would reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively, in a new Disney+ original series titled Daredevil: Born Again, which will debut in 2024 as part of Phase Five of the MCU, according to Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Despite this, it should be noted that Rosario Dawson still has a close working relationship with Disney, the parent company of Marvel Studios, even though the studio has yet to confirm whether or when Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle and Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple will make a comeback to the big screen. In the second season of Disney+'s The Mandalorian, Dawson played Ahsoka Tano, a beloved Star Wars heroine, a role she also played in the spinoff short series The Book of Boba Fett. Dawson will reprise her role as Ahsoka in the titular solo series for the Star Wars heroine, which is anticipated to debut on Disney+ in 2023.
