Crystal Dynamic's New Tomb Raider Game Has Had Its Details Leaked Online

Information on Crystal Dynamic's new Unreal Engine 5 Tomb Raider game has leaked online, revealing new details about it some fans might like while some others might not enjoy

On April 5, 2022, Crystal Dynamics came out and announced that a new Tomb Raider game is in development. Said to be developed using Unreal Engine 5, that is pretty much the only known information we got about the next installment in the long-running Tomb Raider franchise. But now some new information might have seen the light about the next game, information like its code name and some surprising news about Lara Croft herself.

According to ComicBook, this knowledge comes from Colin Moriarty's Sacred Symbols podcast. Moriarty is a well-known industry insider. The forthcoming Tomb Raider game is internally called as Project Jawbreaker, according to Moriarty, who obtained this information from a screenplay that was leaked to him.

Lara Croft is rumored to be in her mid-30s in the forthcoming Tomb Raider game, with Crystal Dynamics reportedly trying to cast someone new in the role. Camilla Luddington, who provided critically lauded performances in the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, previously played Lara Croft. The only reason why I think they would wanna recast Camilla Luddington, someone who gave such life to Lara Croft, would be because they wanna reboot the reboot and have this new game have nothing to do with the previous trilogy since the last game was pushed so heavy as the end of the story for that Lara Croft.

However, the source goes on to characterize this version of Lara Croft as an accomplished explorer "at the top of her game" at this point in her career, suggesting that the re-casting may be done to distinguish this version of the character from the one presented in the reboot trilogy. Another intriguing tidbit from the leak is that Lara Croft will supposedly be accompanied by a crew for her newest adventure, which is claimed to take place "in a modern-day world devastated by a mysterious disaster."

Various side characters from the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy may make ideal selections for Lara's crew in this new game, but that assumes the game will take up where the previous titles left off. As of now, all Tomb Raider fans know officially is that a new game in the franchise is in the works. This leaked information is intriguing, but it's usually preferable to wait for official confirmation. More details about the forthcoming Tomb Raider game should be available sooner rather than later.
