In This Adorable Photo, The Four Hobbit Actors Are Reunited For A Lord Of The Rings Reunion
Sean Astin, Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan from Lord of the Rings reconnect in real life and pose for a lovely portrait
The four Hobbits were significant players in the trilogy's intricate plotlines. Elijah Wood portrayed Frodo Baggins, the young Hobbit tasked with transporting the perilous Ring of Power to Mordor and destroying it in the fires of Mount Doom. Samwise Gamgee, his steady closest buddy and one of his most essential and loyal comrades, was his main companion. Merry and Pippin, played by Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, are also aboard for the adventure. The two cheeky hobbits are separated from their buddies and go on their own coming-of-age trek over Middle-Earth's wide and hazardous terrain.
Terra-média Brasil, a fan account, released a photo on Twitter confirming that all four Hobbits recently came together for a lunch. When translated from the original Portuguese, the caption reads: "Hobbits do not divide. Take a look at the small ones meeting." Check out the following post:
The four actors haven't had much opportunity to work together since filming Lord of the Rings. Except for Monaghan and Boyd's uncredited appearances in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the rest of the four haven't shared a credit together since 2011, with the exception of reunions or talk shows. It makes sense given the disparities in their professions, with Wood working at his production business SpectreVision and Astin appearing on Netflix's Stranger Things.
Fans of the Lord of the Rings will be delighted that the friendship between the four actors has stayed strong even two decades after the release of the movie that launched their careers. Their experience creating the film was almost as intense as the one their characters went through, and their friendship has demonstrated its capacity to withstand the test of time. While the actors will not be appearing in the upcoming Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, their reunion feels quite appropriate given the imminent resurrection of Middle-Earth content.
