Jodie Whittaker The Present Doctor Who Brought Home A Slew Of Props

Jodie Whittaker shows all of the vintage Doctor Who trinkets she carried off the set as her stint as the Doctor comes to a close, including some very personal decisions.

The Thirteenth Doctor actor revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she and Yasmin Khan actor Mandip Gill slipped away with a large amount of Doctor Who memorabilia to celebrate her farewell episode in the British sci-fi show, "The Power of the Doctor." Whittaker asserts that "When the TARDIS is in flight, there is a button that causes a mini-TARDIS to spin. So I boarded the mini-Tardis. I also stole Ashad's figurine from Season 2. So I have a little version of him."

Whittaker stole various essential character-oriented artifacts off-set, including her Doctor's signature coat, attire, and customized Sonic Screwdriver, in addition to TARDIS control room equipment. "Of course, I f—-ing do!" When questioned if she retained the outfit, Whittaker gleefully confessed, "Of course!" "Are you serious? It's all mine! It's quite comfortable."

Whittaker made her Doctor Who debut as Peter Capaldi's replacement in the 2017 episode "Twice Upon a Time," becoming the Time Lord's first female incarnation. She would hold this position for three seasons, with the third season, Doctor Who: Flux, departing from prior seasons with a continuous six-episode arc rather than thirteen distinct episodes.

This was followed by three specials in 2022: "Eve of the Daleks," "Legend of the Sea Devils," and the impending "The Power of the Doctor," in which the Doctor would combat the Daleks, Cybermen, and Sacha Dhawan's Master before regenerating into Ncuti Gatwa's Fourteenth Doctor.

Whittaker has also voiced the Doctor in the BBC's ten-episode audio drama Doctor Who: Redacted and in video games such as the 2021 VR release Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality. The latter also included David Tennant as his fan-favorite Tenth Doctor, with whom the Thirteenth Doctor has crossed over in several comic books, and who will return next year for the show's 60th-anniversary special. While little is known about Gatwa's upcoming debut, Whittaker has described the Sex Education star as "amazing." "Inspiring casting," he said, but added, "Unfortunately for Ncuti, he gave me his phone." So I'm sending him eight-minute monologues on WhatsApp." Russell T. Davies will return as Doctor Who's showrunner, taking over from Chris Chibnall.
