Moff Gideon May Escape Prison In Season 3 Of The Mandalorian

Giancarlo Esposito, actor of The Mandalorian, indicates that his character, Moff Gideon, may escape from jail in the next season 3.

After being thwarted numerous times by Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his eclectic crew of heroes, including Mandalorians Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) and Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks), former Rebel Shock Trooper Cara Dune (Gina Carano), and assassin Fennec Shand, Gideon was successful in his mission (Ming-Na Wen). Din and his squad, with a little aid from Luke Skywalker, penetrated Gideon's flagship, rescued the kid, and caught Gideon.

In a recent interview with ET, Esposito discussed Gideon's condition at the start of Season 3 of The Mandalorian. The actor reveals that his character is most likely behind bars, but that Gideon might escape thanks to the Imperial officer's cunning. See what Esposito hinted at below.

"Yes, it’s assumed he is behind bars. I think we could have an opportunity to see him escape those chains that bind him. We want to see a guy who is a mastermind who has an idea for the future that no one else has. And so, we want to know what that is and we want to know if that’s good or bad."

Esposito recognizes Gideon's attitude and knows that he will not sit and wait for release from a New Republic jail in the unknown and distant future. He is crafty and vicious, and will seize any opportunity to influence his own destiny, as demonstrated in the season 2 finale when he appeared to want to murder himself rather than face a Jedi. Despite being imprisoned, the officer has a significant part to play in The Mandalorian's plot.

Although Din Djarin's goal to restore Grogu to his people has already been fulfilled, despite the fact that the young apprentice decided to return to the Mandalorian during the events of The Book of Boba Fett, his journey about his identity and credo is just starting. Following what he did to her people on her home world of Mandalore, Bo-Katan has a lot of unfinished business with Gideon. Din Djarin and Grogu might accompany her on her journey to right the wrongs, and possibly face battle against Gideon again if he escapes his incarceration in The Mandalorian season 3.
