Natalie Portman's Goofy Humor Will Be On Display In Thor: Love And Thunder

According to filmmaker Taika Waititi, Natalie Portman's wacky humor will be showcased in the next Thor: Love and Thunder.

Portman made her theatrical acting debut at the age of 12 in the film Léon: The Professional, in which she played an orphaned youngster seeking retribution with the assistance of a hitman. This was the start of a great career in Hollywood as a dramatic performer. Portman established herself as one of the industry's leading dramatic performers with films like Where the Heart Is, Cold Mountain, Black Swan, and Jackie. Only a few films have given her the opportunity to showcase her comic variety, such as the fantasy comedy Your Highness and the sex comedy No Strings Attached. Unfortunately, reviewers and moviegoers were not impressed with either film.

Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi revealed in an interview with Empire that his future picture will highlight Portman's comedic side. Waititi revealed that the actor has a naturally silly sense of humor that has seldom been shown on film. Below is what the filmmaker had to say.

"Natalie’s really funny in real life. She’s kind of goofy and has got a great sense of humor, and I don’t think that was exploited enough in the first films."

Waititi is noted for his bizarre comedic style in his films. With the vampire horror comedy What We Do in the Shadows and the Sam Neill and Julian Dennison adventure Hunt of the Wilderpeople, the New Zealand filmmaker earned a name for himself. With 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi entered the MCU and managed to add a fair amount of humour into the brand. Chris Hemsworth's range was expanded by the director, who enabled him to embrace the character's comedy. Waititi appears to be on a mission to do the same with Portman.

One of the many triumphs in Thor: Ragnarok that critics praised was Hemsworth's effective transition to humor. Tom Hiddleston, who portrayed Loki, and Tessa Thompson, who played Valkyrie, were both acclaimed for their humorous performances in the film. Both actors are recognized for their serious work. Waititi will assist Portman in flexing her comic muscles in the highly anticipated and long-awaited Thor: Love and Thunder, in which she will have a prominent part. Only time will tell how well Portman handles additional comedy, but under Waititi's direction, it should result in hilarious outcomes.
