New Trailer For Upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake Shows Leon In A More Mature Light

During the 2022 Capcom Showcase, a new teaser for Resident Evil 4's remake was shown, showcasing a much more mature Leon S. Kennedy

The classic Resident Evil 4 has been largely viewed as one of the best horror-action games of all time, and while Capcom pivoted more aggressively in to the action with Resident Evil 5 and 6, 4 is widely regarded as the franchise's strongest game when it comes to effectively balancing true scares and action-packed gameplay. The game has been ported to several systems in the years since its debut, but fans have long hoped for a full remake. Resident Evil 4 Remake was unveiled during the PlayStation State of Play event in June, with a teaser video showing off the remake with a March 2023 release date.

During the Capcom Showcase on June 13, the firm provided a more in-depth look at parts of the Resident Evil 4 Remake's gameplay, environment, and characters. The trailer focuses largely on Leon S. Kennedy himself, with the character donning a much more mature, and world-weary visage, reiterating that the plot will innovate while keeping loyal to the original. Capcom developers have indicated that Leon's new gritty visage will work in combination with the terrors he'll face in the remake, drawing emphasis to his new gritty appearance.

Resident Evil 4 Remake takes set some years after the events of Raccoon City, which shaped Leon into the hardened warrior he is today, so it stands to reason that Capcom would want to offer a grittier and more mature-looking Leon for his next adventure. Leon has watched his colleagues die, battled hordes of zombies, and faced a variety of T-Virus-infected monsters at this point in the Resident Evil chronology, and this trauma appears to manifest in his reconstructed face. The new release has a lot to live up to after being based on one of the most beloved video games of all time. Capcom has previously teased the revamped tale of Resident Evil 4 Remake, which might imply that players will encounter something altogether fresh in terms of things like Leon and Ashley's cooperation, the presence of Ada Wong, or even some of the game's legendary and renowned foes and bosses. While it's unknown what additional content Resident Evil 4 Remake will include, it appears Capcom is attempting to create a plot that will appeal to both old and new fans.
