Season 2 Of Marvel's Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur Has Been Renewed

Before the animated series premiered in February 2023, Disney commissioned a second season of Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Disney announced at New York Comic-Con that Season 2 of the forthcoming animated series has been commissioned ahead of its February 10 release. Disney also released the show's theme song, "Moon Girl Magic," which was written and produced by Raphael Saadiq and performed by Diamond White, who plays the eponymous Moon Girl.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is based on the contemporary comic series of the same name and follows Lunella Lafayette, a 13-year-old super-genius who mistakenly transports a cherry-red tyrannosaurus into modern New York. Lunella and her prehistoric comrade set out as Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, armed with an array of handmade inventions and helped by her closest friend Casey, to "make a difference and safeguard her Lower East Side neighborhood from peril."

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur were formally introduced during the 2019 D23 Expo. "I am happy to be participating with Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur as an enthusiastic comic book reader," Fishburne remarked at the time. "The Disney Channel provides the ideal venue for exploring this pint-sized female African American superhero, and I can't wait for their audience to experience Lunella and Devil Dinosaur's humorous escapades."

Cort Lane, Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment's senior vice president, commented, "Lunella has no idea she is the brightest person on the globe, but fans will quickly realize how awesome Moon Girl is. Her escapades with her enormous pal, Devil Dinosaur, are full of surprise and excitement, and this historic collaboration between Disney Television Animation and Cinema Gypsy Productions proved to be the appropriate recipe for bringing them to television."

Along with Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Marvel is working on another highly anticipated animation project: X-Men '97, a reboot of the famous X-Men: The Animated Series. The new series will continue up where the previous one left off, with Charles Xavier fleeing Earth in pursuit of a cure for his fatal sickness and leaving Magneto in charge of his former students. Thus, the Master of Magnetism will lead the X-Men against the forces of evil, now commanded by Mister Sinister, in 1997.
