The Winter Soldier Rejoices In The Fact He Is Finally Free Of Anthony Mackie's Baggage

Sebastian Stan, who starred in Thunderbolts and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, jokes about his "liberation" from MCU co-star Anthony Mackie.

Sebastian Stan, who will reprise his role as Bucky Barnes/the Winter Soldier in Thunderbolts in 2024, joked about finally escaping from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-star Anthony Mackie. When asked how it felt to rejoin Mackie at D23, Stan provided a very surprising response. "All I can say is that freedom tastes delicious.

Finally, I am liberated "The Emmy Award-winning actor laughed. "I adore him... Of sure, it's strange. That's a little bit like... what is it, Stockholm syndrome or something? When you think to yourself, 'I might not... you know...' But, in any case, it's good to constantly be close to each other."

Stan's remark is similar to the one made by Mackie at D23. Shortly after it was revealed that Stan and Wyatt Russell would both be appearing as their FatWS characters in Thunderbolts, the Captain America actor joked that he is "highly upset" that Marvel Studios is putting his co-stars in a movie that he isn't in, implying that Mackie will not appear as Sam Wilson in the 2024 film.

Stan and Russell's characters will pair up alongside Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Thunderbolts (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Meanwhile, Mackie will take the lead as Sam Wilson in Captain America: New World Order.

Thunderbolts will follow the titular squad of anti-heroes commanded by Louis-Dreyfus' character, who initially appeared in the penultimate episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and resurfaced in Black Widow's post-credits sequence. Baron Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl) is one Marvel Cinematic Universe figure that has long been expected to appear in Thunderbolts since he was a founding member of the original Thunderbolts lineup in the comics. While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm the Captain America: Civil War villain's involvement, internet host John Campea recently uncovered Zemo's name in the URL for a Marvel.com page reporting the cast announcement. The webpage has subsequently been changed to remove Zemo from the URL.
