Three Resident Evil Games Will Receive Free PS5 And Xbox Series X Upgrades

During the Capcom Showcase 2022, Capcom revealed that the current-gen enhancements for Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 are now available for download

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that three Resident Evil titles will receive free updates. Owners of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 on PS4 or Xbox One can get a free enhanced version of the games on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Those who possess the games on disc must also own the appropriate disc version of the new console. PC users will also be able to purchase upgrades for the three games. Capcom announced today, June 13, at the Capcom Showcase 2022 event, that the current-gen updates for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard are free to download on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The news of the Resident Evil upgrades launching surfaced earlier this week, when the PS5 versions of the game, including their download sizes, were uploaded to the PSN database. This means that fans were not shocked when Capcom revealed that the current-gen versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 are now free to download. The Capcom Showcase 2022 announcement can be seen in the video below, which was uploaded to the Resident Evil YouTube account.

Resident Evil titles on earlier generations of consoles were among the best-looking games on the devices, and the new consoles will improve on that. Ray-tracing, better frame rates, and 3D improved audio will be included on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and updated PC versions of the game. The PS5 version will also have DualSense compatibility, as well as Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers. Resident Evil remakes are amazing fresh adaptations of old Resident Evil titles, while Resident Evil 7 helped usher in a new era for the franchise, which was continued with Resident Evil Village. These titles are deserving of a visual upgrade on newer platforms, as well as an overall speed increase to shorten loading times.
