Writer Confirms Reva Originally Died In Obi-Wan Kenobi

Stuart Beattie, who originally wrote the script for the Disney+ series about Obi-Wan Kenobi, has confirmed that Darth Vader killed Reva in his early drafts of the story

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader squared off twice in the Disney+ series, and Kenobi also encountered the Inquisitors and helped save a young Leia Organa. The latter is a dangerous Jedi hunter working for Darth Vader, while Reva, the Third Sister, portrayed by Moses Ingram, was a new Inquisitor that Obi-Wan Kenobi put into the canon. Because she was the brains behind capturing Leia to lure Kenobi out of hiding,

Reva had a significant part in Obi-Wan Kenobi's life. She hunted down the renowned Jedi in an effort to convince Darth Vader, whom she had secretly despised ever since she was a young Jedi during Order 66, that she was worthy of his trust. Though she is not addressed in any other canon materials that take place after these events, many fans anticipated that Reva would pass away in Obi-Wan Kenobi before the series ever began. Darth Vader stabbed Reva in episode 5, yet she pulled through and even made it to the climax.

It is now established that Obi-Wan Kenobi was the intended location for Reva's demise. In a recent interview with The Direct, writer Stuart Beattie discussed how his intentions for Moses Ingram's Inquisitor character differed from his original thoughts for extending Obi-Wan's saga as a trilogy of films. He said that Darth Vader first murdered Reva with his lightsaber while he was drafting the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie script. According to Beattie, Reva's demise was originally planned to occur after she saves the Jedi and ends Vader's search for his old comrade by pretending to have slain Obi-Wan.

"Yeah, killed by Vader at the end of it. Yeah, I wanted this story, I wanted her story to end. I wanted Reva to play her part in the Kenobi-Vader story, which was, essentially, at the end, she was the one that allowed Vader, basically told Vader to stop hunting Kenobi. You know, she ended the obsession Vader had with Kenobi. She claimed it was over, it's done. So that was, that was her role to play. And she'd done so many terrible things, I felt she had to die [laughs]. You can only redeem so much."

Despite the fact that Lucasfilm decided to make Obi-Wan Kenobi a limited series on Disney+ rather than a prospective feature trilogy, Beattie's script served as the inspiration for this journey. Even while the final film incorporated many of his ideas, murdering Reva was not one of them. It is unknown if Lucasfilm ever planned for Reva's demise to be depicted in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. There were rumors that the finale of the program was changed to keep her alive. In contrast to the show, Obi-Wan in his version told Reva that Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker, not the other way around. One of the most puzzling plot points from the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale concerns Reva's uncertain destiny. It certainly appears that the combined brutality of Darth Vader and the Grand Inquisitor would have made more sense if Reva had perished. Most fans of Obi-Wan Kenobi praised the character and her storyline. There are several possibilities to see Reva again as a result of Lucasfilm's choice to alter Obi-Wan Kenobi's scripts rather than have her killed.
