Writers Have Teased Deadpool 3's MCU Story Details

The first Deadpool 3 MCU narrative details, outlining a fish-out-of-water tale, have been teased by the film's writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese

Deadpool 3's development has lately accelerated, with Marvel announcing in early 2022 that The Adam Project's Shawn Levy will helm the picture. It is Levy and Reynolds' third collaboration, and the two have developed a solid working connection.

His employment coincided with the announcement that Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese would return to write the script after doing so for the first two films. Other information regarding the film has yet to be verified by Marvel Studios, leading fans to speculate about how Deadpool will fit into the MCU.

Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are now conducting press for Netflix's Spiderhead, which they wrote, and chatted with Post Cred Pod about the film and future projects, including Deadpool 3. The podcast approached the authors for specifics on the threequel, and while they couldn't reveal much about Wade Wilson's narrative, they did hint at some plot points. The MCU plot of Deadpool 3 was characterized by Reese as a "fish out of water" adventure based on a maniac.

"It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun."

The "fish out of water" plot hint for Deadpool 3 confirms that the film will return Wade Wilson to the main MCU chronology. Deadpool is the maniac described by the authors, and his tone and demeanor are unmistakably distinct from everything Marvel has done up to this point. The contrast between Deadpool and the MCU appears to be exactly what Deadpool 3 will enjoy toying with. Because Deadpool has the capacity to breach the fourth wall, crossing realities allows him to deliver a plethora of gags. Later in the conversation, the authors joked that they could include some Morbius meme allusions.

It will be interesting to watch how the movie and Wade Wilson manage this transition after this Deadpool 3 MCU narrative hint. Reynolds has previously hinted that some of the Deadpool franchise's characters may return. However, one of the attractions of Deadpool's inclusion in the MCU is his capacity to cross paths with characters who would not otherwise be on the table. Fans still want Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to appear in Deadpool 3, but Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, and others might also feature. The writers appear to be pleased with how the tale is progressing thus far.
